In 2006, the staff developed a recommendation regarding CPSC's supplemental definition to address scientific advances and new risk assessment methods currently under development by federal agencies. In 2007, the staff's recommendation and analysis was peer-reviewed by scientists from other federal agencies. Goal: In 2008, external peer review of the staff's report on "strong sensitizers" will be completed.

The CPSC staff believes that for inherent entrapment protection systems the standard should require four inches of reversal rather than the two inches currently specified on the ballot.
